Sit Back and Relax at the Beach
You are spoiled for choice in this coastal location, stretching from Rest Bay and Pink Bay to Trecco Bay and Sker Beach. Visit a different beach each day to keep things fresh, or choose your favourite of the Porthcawl beaches to return to year after year. There is something for everyone on these spectacular shores, so go crabbing and rock pooling with your little ones, then soak up the sun with a good book.
Step into History at the Porthcawl Museum
Travel back in time at the Porthcawl Museum and immerse yourself in the rich history of Glamorgan (Morgannwg). Run by an enthusiastic volunteer team of local experts, this museum features a gift shop with quality products for keepsakes and souvenirs. There’s plenty to see: check out their current exhibitions and events.
See a Show at the Grand Pavilion
Located on the seafront esplanade in central Porthcawl, this striking octagonal pavilion will surely catch your eye. This performing arts centre seats around 600 people and was built almost 100 years ago, so get a taste of local culture on a trip to the theatre. It hosts many shows for one night only, so check out what’s on and see what takes your fancy!
Get Wet ‘n’ Wild With Watersports
Turn things up a notch and get your heart racing with some exciting watersports. Porthcawl is proud to be one of Britain’s fastest-growing surfing destinations and has something for all levels, whether you’re a seasoned surfer who’s ready to ride some waves or just curious to give it a go. You can also find classes for kids, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, and bodyboarding - check out Porthcawl Surf School for more info!
Go for a Stunning Sunset Boardwalk
Take a long and peaceful walk along the rugged coast of Wales on the accessible and convenient boardwalk that hugs the Porthcawl beaches - this is one of my favourite things to do! Take your kids on a sunset stroll or embark on a ramble with friends along this smooth wooden boardwalk – it's even suitable for families with young kids and pushchairs. Perfect is all seasons, a crisp winter walk with your bobble hats or a glorious stroll on a warm summers day, a great activity all year round.
